1st@1st & WMU
Co-Director: Kay Pugh

1st@1st is an FBC monthly outreach ministry to working parents in the community who do not have readily available child care options on the first Wednesday of each month during the school year when kids are dismissed early so that faculty and staff may be involved in professional development activities . On site after school child care is not available at Palmyra Elementary on first Wednesdays of each month.  Transportation is provided from the school to FBC by the church bus for children who participate in 1st@1st with parent permission.  This ministry was developed as the need was seen to support families in the community.

Similar to Vacation Bible School the younger children have activities that focus on the Bible as well as music and craft activities that reinforce the Bible lesson. The children enjoy a snack on their arrival between 1:30 and 1:45 and another snack later in the afternoon as some parents are not able to pick their kids up until 5:30 after getting off work.

Middle School students who attend 1st@1st receive a snack and homework assistance or may help with the younger childlren's crafts or games after 3 p.m.  The ministry for the 2017-18 school year will be the third year for 1st@1st.

The photo (above right) shows the "Treat Bags" which were made by the kids in 1st@1st.  The bags were filled with edible treats and notes of encouragement added by the WMU ladies who then delivered them to residents of Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
